Netgear Launch Fastest Gaming Router Yet

Nasdaq-listed Netgear has expanded its Nighthawk Pro Gaming (NPG) range, with the release of its new XR700 ($849), which claims to be the industry’s fastest home gaming router yet.

The NPG XR700 incorporates Netgear’s award-winning DumaOS for greater network control, coupled with AD7200 Quad Stream Wave2 WiFi.

Catering to casual and avid gamers alike, the NPG XR700 claims to satisfy multi-player gamers, by delivering the control required to dominate online opponents.

Designed for gamers’ needs, the router optimises network connections by stabilising ping, minimising lag spikes, and maintaining the fastest wired and wireless connectivity for stable game play.

Powered by DumaOS software, the router also offers an intuitive and interactive Gaming DashboardQuality of Service (QoS) to control and minimise lag, and Geo Filter to guarantee local game hosts.

Netgear asserts the rich software features offer unmatched gaming performance and customisation from a router.

Concerning hardware, the new NPG XR700 incorporates a robust 1.7GHz quad-core processor, fast 60GHz 802.11ad WiFi technology, quad-stream WiFi with MU-MIMO, and four external high-power active antennas.

Sporting a single 10G SFP+ port and additional 7 Gigabit ports, the XR700 is designed for streamers, those dependent on hard-wired gaming hardware, and videophiles with networked storage.

Using a compatible SFP+ module (e.g. NETGEAR AXM765) gamers can run a 10G connection from the router to a 10GBASE-T capable PC, achieving one tenth the lag latency in downstream of a 1G connection.

“When you make the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700 WiFi Router the bedrock of your gaming rig, you can be confident that your network will not lag,” asserts David Henry, Netgear Senior VP of Connected Home.

“With gamer-focused customisation options, seven Gigabit Ethernet ports, an available 10G port, a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and Plex Media Server, you have the best possible media streaming and gameplay on whatever platform you are playing with Xbox, PlayStation, PC or mobile devices. NPG puts you in command to overcome ping and latency.”

Coupled the XR700 with the Nighthawk Pro Gaming SX10 10G LAN Switch, users can extend the number of available ports, to receive robust LAN gaming, and swift data transfer including 4K video.
