Google Scrambles To Fix Slow Nest Wifi Pro Router
Google is rolling out a software update for its new Nest Wifi Pro this week, after users around the globe reported slow internet speeds on the router.
Google Nest Wifi’s product lead confirmed over the weekend the company is “currently investigating reports of a small number of users experiencing reduced internet speeds on Nest Wifi Pro routers,” and that its “teams are working to roll out a fix.”
This is an unfortunate early stumble for the Google’s Nest Wifi Pro mesh router, which was released late last month. The company boasted faster Wi-Fi 6E with speeds of up to 5.4Gbps in regions where those speeds are supported – not the mention sporting the tagline “Stronger Connection. Every Direction.”
Google promised that “one Nest Wifi router with one Wi-fi point is strong enough to handle up to 200 connected devices and stream multiple 4K videos at a time.”
Users took to the Google Nest community forum to report otherwise, complaining about capped download and uploads speeds of anywhere from 40Mbps to 90Mbps.
Google hasn’t commented on the cause, but users with point-to-point protocol over ethernet (PPPoE) networks as well as fibre, are reporting issues.
