Myer has signed a deal with American Express that will allow shoppers to use their Amex rewards points at the department store.

From today, Pay with Points at Myer will allow American Express card members to shop online, and use the Amex membership rewards payment button at the checkout.

This is similar to deals Myer has currently with Virgin and Commbank that allows points from their respective membership programs to be used in store.

Myer also has a partnership with David Jones, in the form of a David Jones American Express Credit Card.

“We are excited to welcome American Express, a global leader in payments, commerce, and financial services to Myer’s growing Pay with Points program,” said Geoff Ikin, Myer chief customer officer.

“This new partnership gives us an unparalleled opportunity to provide more value to our customers.”

Myer will report its half-year financials on Thursday – the final major Australian retailer to report.

Given the David Jones managed to tripled profits in the six months, all eyes will be on the department store’s results – none more than biggest shareholder Solomon Lew, who topped his investment off just last week with a further 3 per cent purchase, now controlling 26 per cent of the company.
