Microsoft Australia has reported a net profit after tax of $100 million for the year ended June 30, 2018. That’s more than twice the $47 million profit it recorded in the previous year.
Bit – surprise! – it paid just $53.3 million in tax to the Federal Government, compared with $87 million in the previous year. This is said to come after Microsoft reached a new tax arrangement with the ATO in August 2017.
According to documents Microsoft filed with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), Microsoft’s total revenue in FY18 was $2.3 billion, just over double the $1.1 billion it reported in the previous year.
According to the report, most of Microsoft Australia’s revenue in the 2018 year came from “products” which brought in $1.5 billion. “Services and other” revenue sources accounted for $192 million, while “commissions” reached $603 million.
Microsoft Australia said it had 1404 employees in December 2018 – the month in which it lodged its financial results.
