Mobile Malware Hits Oz Banks

At least five Australian banks are believed to be among 50 worldwide currently being targeted by GM Bot mobile malware.

The malware, which is also said to target payments service PayPal, attempts to gain full control and access to customer accounts.

Australian banks affected are said to include NAB, CBA, Bank of South Australia, Westpac and St George.

The malware communicates with a command-and-control server over the TOR anonymising network, and is claimed to be difficult to remove once it gains administrative rights.
