‘TalkBand’: Chinese Join Wearables Race

TalkBand B1 is Huawei’s ‘talk and track’ mobile wrist band, announced at the Mobile World Congress that kicks off in Spain today.

It lets you take calls via a Bluetooth 4.1 wireless earpiece, on any Android (2.3+) and Apple iOS (5.0+) mobile, for up to seven hours

It syncs with your mobile via NFC. TalkBand B1 vibrates if it is more than 10 meters away from the synced device.

The colourful watch has a 1.4-inch flexible OLED display and weighs 26g and is 14.6mm thin, a fashionable bendable curve design that fits around the wrist.

It also does the usual health stuff like track your activity steps taken, miles ran and calories burned, like FitBit or Jawbone’s Up, and records sleeping patterns, smart alarm and nap functions.

TalkBand B1 is hypo-allergenic, sweat-resistant and made from anti-UV materials so it is good in the sun. It has a rumored RRP of US$99, no word on local availability or pricing yet.

With a 90 mAh battery, TalkBand B1 lasts six days without recharge, and takes two hours to charge via a USB connector.
