MasterChef Cuts Ties With Aussie Judges

MasterChef Australia has confirmed long-time judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris won’t return to the hit Ten show after the current season – potentially affecting a slew of kitchen brands endorsed.

The popular show is frequently used as a promotional vehicle for several appliance brands (e.g. from Sunbeam to De’Longhi) with the show’s judges often attributed for brand credibility.

The judges – who have headlined the show for over 11 years – reportedly failed to reach a “commercial agreement” with the network.

The news follows increasing scrutiny over Mr Calombaris’ treatment of staff, incurring a fine for underpaying 515 staff around $7.8 million.

Several unions called for Calombaris sacking this week, just days before the current series’ grand final episode airs on Ten tonight.
