Mastercard Bring ‘Tap-And-Go’ Payment To New Fitbit Watch

Fitbit has partnered with Mastercard and brought contactless ‘tap-and-go’ payment convenience to all users of the newly launched Fitbit Ionic smartwatches.

Mastercard’s industry-leading token technology will allow users to access contactless payment simply by holding their smartwatch in front of a suitable payment device.

The company hopes the integration will allow users to shop with the “most convenience”, and be easily integrated into their daily lives.

This contactless payment option will be rolled out across Australia later this year, and the feature will be accessible at 6.6 million global merchant locations.

Research has revealed that Australia ranks the second highest country for wearable technology – over half the population own a wearable device.

Mastercard states this forms part of its company initiatives for driving innovation forward in Australia.
