LG Unveils 5.7″ Display LG Stylus 2

LG has taken the wraps off its LG Stylus 2 smartphone, an “enhanced sequel to the G4 Stylus”, ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

Sporting a 5.7″ HD in-cell touch display, the Stylus 2 comes with “a pen with a nano-coated tip for more accuracy compared to the previous rubber-tipped pen”.

The Stylus 2 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It comes with 1.5 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16 GB internal storage along with microSD support, and is equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery.

Weighing in at 145 g, and 7.4 mm thick, the Stylus 2 also sports a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera.

Functions developed specifically for the Stylus 2 include Pen Pop, toggling a pop-up menu when the stylus is removed, offering shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner, and Pen Keeper, which prevents the stylus from being misplaced by displaying a pop-up message when the phone is detected as being in motion when the stylus bay is empty.

LG states the Calligraphy Pen font “allows one to write as beautifully and decoratively as if using a fountain pen”.

“LG Stylus 2 provides both the big screen and premium note-taking functions of a premium large phone at a price of a mid-tier phone,” Juno Cho, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company president and CEO, commented.

The Stylus 2 will debut at the Mobile World Congress, with LG yet to announce pricing and availability details.
