LG Starts Mass Production Of EV Chargers

LG Electronics announced it has officially started mass production of electric vehicle chargers.

“The start of EV charger production marks a significant milestone for LG, propelling us on a journey to become a total EV charging solutions provider,” said Suh Heung-kyu, vice president and head of the EV charging business division of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company.

“We will focus on delivering convenient and fast EV charging solutions for EV owners and differentiated EV charging solutions offering diverse form factors and new services for our valued partners.”

The company showcased four new charging models (seen abov) at a launch at LG Digital Park in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. It is mass producing two 7-kilowatt models, one wall-mounted the other on a stand, and two fast-charging models – 100 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts.

LG Electronics acquired 60 per cent of AppleMango, an EV charger manufacturer from South Korea, in 2019, which it has now rebranded as HiEV Charger.

The new EV chargers will be water and dust resistant, and will be able to charge two EVs at the same time.
