LG Responds To Cheap Aldi TV Offer That Upset Retail Partners

Following our story yesterday on the ranging of a cheap $699 55″ LG TV at Aldi which upset some retailers, LG Electronics Australia management, has responded claiming that the move to sell LG TVs via Aldi’s Special Buys is a ‘One off’.

Management at LG Electronics Australia claim that LG’s channel strategy has not changed, and the offer was not intended to compete with their existing retail partners”.

They claim that Joshua Marshall the General Manager of LG Electronics is not able to comment on the new cheap LG TV Channel strategy because “It doesn’t exist”.

LG who has a prolific track record of sending out press releases claim ” We did not create a press release as there was nothing to be communicated”.

Prior to the story being published, we were alerted to the fact, that several retailers who sell value branded TV’s along with LG TV’s, were not happy with the Aldi TV offer as retailers are currently trying to shift old 2023 TV stock out of their stores because of the pending arrival of new 2024 TV’s.

According to LG management the business is still committed to their ‘Premium TV strategy”.
