LG Ramps Up Production Of Premium Appliances
LG Electronics is increasing US production of premium home appliances as it looks to meet market demand.
The Korean giant announced a new $43 million production line for dryers will be added to its Tennessee plant, which currently has two production lines for front and top-loading washing machines.
This will boost annual production capacity at the US plant to 1.2 million washing machines and 600,000 dryers, as well as reducing logistics costs, tariffs and delivery time of its products overall in the US.
LG is also planning to add a new production line for its Wash Tower lineup (pictured below) in the first half of this year.
“Based on advanced production lines, we will continue to expand our presence in North America’s washer and dryer markets,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, LG’s home appliance business chief.
“The Tennessee plant will become a production base for washing machines and a cornerstone for our growth in the North American market.”
