Less than a month before the official release of the iPhone 15, leaks have released new details including faster charging speeds.
There are claims the iPhone 15 will support charging speeds up to 35W, meaning it could charge from 0-100% in one hour.
This new smartphone is expected to be revealed on September 12th/13th, with a brand new USB-C charging port. There are also talks the phone could come included with the already sold 35W USB-C power adapter.
It remains unclear if 35W charging will be supported by all of the iPhone 15 models, with four expected to be unveiled; the standard iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Max.
Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro supports charging at 27W, meaning it takes around two hours to fully charge, and plugging it into a 35W charger doesn’t speed up the process.
However, this remains modest compared to some competitors, for example; Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra supports up tp 45W, allowing users to recharge 0-100% in under an hour.
Apple made the switch from the Lightning charging design to USB-C due to an EU law, that aims to make a single charging design the common standard, in an effort to reduce electronic waste.
Other details surrounding the new phone have been leaked recently, such as curvier edges, titanium frames, a smaller border, and Dynamic Island on all models.
Pricing is still yet to be determined, however it’s been reported the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Max will end up more expensive than their predecessors.
There are reports the unveiling will take place on September 12th/13th, and the phones are expected to go on sale on September 22nd.
Due to manufacturing issues, fans are worried about a delay until October, however nothing is set in stone about this yet.
