And like other devices jostling in the packed phone market, the 8X is a skinny minny at 132.35 x 66.2 x 10.12 mm.

The display on the 8X also has an optical lamination that reduces reflections and glare, handy for the Aussie sun.

The HTC 8S has a slightly smaller 4″ LCD screen with Gorilla Glass and a dual core 1GHz Snapdragon S4 processor.

Similar to Apple’s iPhone 5 launch last week, HTC is also pushing the 8X’s new 8MP camera credentials which supports Full HD 1080p video.

Out front is a 2.1 MP cam thathas a 88°wide angle which will capture four people or more.

In comparison, the 8S has a 5MP rear cam capable of 720p recording and a front cam for video conferencing.
