The Company who recently hired Brendan Lau the former head of Consumer at Hewlett-Packard Australia is now talking to Harvey Norman with the Company tipped to launch their consumer range in Australia in Q4.

ChannelNews has been told that both Officeworks and Dick Smith were keen to get the brand on their shelves. 

Harvey Norman sources claim that they have met with Lenovo executives and that the mass retailer is confident that both JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman will be the launch partners for Lenovo.

The move will put pressure on HP the #1 PC Company in Australia, in the US and European markets Lenovo is the #1 PC brand after stripping market share away from HP.

In Australia HP has been battling to rid themselves of the stigma associated with the brand after the Federal Court slapped the Company with a $3M fine for openly misleading consumers about their warranty rights. Also mixed up in the drama were several Harvey Norman stores who were accused of misleading consumers in Australia. 

Lenovo extended its lead as the leader in worldwide PC shipments, as its worldwide market share increased to 19.2 percent. Lenovo’s PC shipments grew by double-digits in all regions except Asia/Pacific where the Company was not trading in the consumer market. Australia is the largest Country in the Asia Pacific region. 

Lenovo’s shipment growth in Q2 2014 in Asia/Pacific was still faster than the regional average Gartner said.
