Is Chord Electronic Hugo M The World’s Most Advanced Digital Audio Scaler?
Chord Electronics has unveiled its Hugo M Scaler which can upscale standard 44.1kHz digital audio up to 705.6kHz.
It’s designed to be used with the brand’s dual-BNC-input DACs: the DAVE, Qutest and the new Hugo TT 2.
Of course, it can also be used with other DACs, to enhance digital source systems. The Hugo M features FPGA-based WTA (Watts Transient Alignment) filtering technology said to improve sound quality. It would typically be partnered with streamers, smartphones, laptops and CD players.
Connections comprise stereo BNC, two optical digital inputs, plus an isolated USB Type-B. The latter is compatible with DSD and PCM data (up to DSD 256), with DSD upsampled to PCM using proprietary filtering.
Like all other Chord components, its leading-edge audio processing is housed in an aircraft-grade aluminium chassis. It can be stacked with the brand’s TT (Table Top) series, including the TToby stereo power amp, to form a highly advanced yet space-saving system.
Pricing and availability for Australia still to come
