FOX Sports To launch New HD Channels

FOX Sports To launch New HD ChannelsThe two new high – def channels, Fox Sports 4 and Fox Sports 5 will be live in November 03, on Foxtel. 


Previously known as Fuel TV and Speed, the channels have become fullyfledged Fox Sports channels. 

It brings the number of channels broadcast in HD on Fox Sports to seven including channels, 1, 2 and 3 as well as Fox Footy. 

Foxtel, for its part, broadcasts over 20 channels in HD including Movies, Drama but charge $10 extra a month for the service.  It is a popular option, but the Pay TV company did not divulge subscriber numbers when contacted by CN. 

Today’s announcement is indicative of more HD channel to come, sources say.

The new sports channels will offer fans live coverage of events including Hyundai A-League every match LIVE; Barclays Premier League; ICC Cricket World Cup, and the IRB Rugby World Cup. 

Motorsport including V8 Supercars will also be shown as part of as a new rights deal Fox Sport secured.

“2015 will be the best year ever on Fox Sports, with more hours of live, premium sport than we’ve ever had,” said Fox Sports CEO Patrick Delany. 

“All our premium sport will be consecutively listed in the Foxtel guide and all will be recordable in HD. An added benefit will be new capacity to add even more enhancements using our innovative red button feature.”

The two channels will also be available online via Foxtel Go, Play and Foxtel on Telstra T-Box.
