IKEA has launched the Phone Sleep Collection in the United Arab Emirates, offering miniature beds designed to hold smartphones overnight as part of an initiative to reduce screen time before sleep.

Developed by Dubai’s Memac Ogilvy, the miniature beds replicate IKEA’s full-sized furniture aesthetic with clean lines, simple construction, cushions, and blankets scaled to smartphone dimensions.

The concept addresses the widespread habit of keeping phones bedside, where screen glow disrupts sleep quality.

Each bed contains an embedded tracking chip.

Users press their phone against it at bedtime, automatically launching the IKEA app to log the start time without manual input.

The app records consecutive nights of phone separation, gamifying the digital detox process.

Users who commit to seven consecutive nights receive a AED 100 (approximately $42) voucher.

The reward structure builds momentum through progressive tracking without requiring screen interaction.

The Phone Sleep Collection is available as a free gift with purchase at IKEA stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other UAE locations for a limited time.

Customers must spend at least AED 750 (approximately $315) on a single item from the Complete Sleep range, including supportive pillows or breathable sheets, to receive a miniature bed with setup instructions from staff.

The promotion is exclusively available in-store; online shoppers can purchase Complete Sleep products through ikea.com/ae but cannot access the miniature bed offer.

IKEA has operated in the UAE for over 30 years.

The Phone Sleep Collection represents the retailer’s expansion into behavioural wellness products beyond traditional furniture, targeting consumers concerned about technology’s impact on sleep quality.

The initiative acknowledges research linking pre-sleep screen exposure to reduced sleep quality and provides a physical solution that encourages separation from devices during nighttime hours.

IKEA has not announced plans to launch the Phone Sleep Collection in Australia or other markets outside the UAE.
