Despite being embroiled in a security saga, Huawei has continued its massive growth trajectory, following reports the Chinese giant is on track to ship 200 million smartphones this year.
According to Taiwanese trade publication, DigiTimes, Huawei has already shipped 100 million smartphones year to date – the fastest its reached the milestone in recent years.
By matter of comparison, Huawei reportedly notched the 100 million mark in December 2015, October 2016 and September 2017.
Huawei has continued to pursue its goal of debunking Apple’s global rank, with some analysts asserting the Chinese giant may reach that point sooner than later.
The Californian-giant reportedly shipped over 215 million iPhones last year.
Huawei CEO Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, claims the company’s smartphone shipments have soared 51% in the past seven years.
