HP is positioning its new HyperX Omen 15 gaming laptop as the machine between compact 14-inch gaming notebooks and larger desktop replacement models.

First announced at CES 2026 and currently selling in North America, the 15.3-inch Omen 15 is aimed at gamers who want a more portable design without giving up higher-end hardware.

Current configurations pair either Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors or AMD Ryzen chips with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop graphics.

HP’s US listings include Intel Core Ultra 7 356H and Core Ultra 9 386H options, alongside an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX model.

Depending on configuration, the laptop comes with up to 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB SSD and RTX 5070 graphics with 8GB of VRAM.

Display options include a 15.3-inch 16:10 IPS panel with 2.5K resolution, 180Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness. A higher-end 2.8K OLED option offers a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,100 nits peak HDR brightness.

The Omen 15 weighs about 2.4kg and includes a 70Wh battery, making it more manageable than many 16-inch and 18-inch gaming laptops, though not exactly an ultraportable.

US pricing starts at US$2,099 for the Core Ultra 7 and Ryzen 7 models, rising to US$2,799 for the Core Ultra 9 OLED version. Australian pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.
