Google Wants To Out-Twitter Twitter

Alphabet has confirmed that it is planning to turn the search results page for Google into more of a rolling news feed, similar to how Twitter operates.

Big Moments has been in the works for over a year, with the tech giant working at curating a timely blend of breaking news items, sports results, and major events.

According to The Information, this plan came about as Google Search struggled to keep up with the fast-breaking events of recent times, such as last year’s Black Lives Matter protests and the January 6 Capitol Hill riots.

It follows the company’s decision as the coronavirus struck in early 2020 to integrate data and visuals from medical authorities in a prominent position.

Of course, while this is a good idea, it puts an end to Google’s constant claims that it is a web platform rather than a news publisher.
