Taiwanese contract manufacturing behemoth, Foxconn, has reportedly achieved complete 8K and 5G production ecosystems, marking a “big step forward” in the group’s road-map after two years.

Reported by Taiwanese trade publication, DigiTimesthe move sees Foxconn complete production ecosystems for 8K cameras, compression and decompression for 8K image transmission, and much more.

Chairman of Foxconn’s telecom arm Asia Pacific Telecom (APT), Lu Fang-ming, asserts establishing 5G environments for 8K image transmission is essential, with the company rolling out “total solutions for backend-to-frontend operations.”

In addition to 8K, Foxconn has completed production ecosystems for wired and 5G wireless transmission, plus terminal displays and applications.

Lu claims several commercial customers have already adopted 8K solutions (e.g. museums), with the technology poised to go mainstream.
