Facebook Designing Its First Smartwatch
Facebook is currently designing its first smartwatch, which is reported to feature two cameras that can detach from the wrist.
According to The Verge, the front camera will be used primarily for video calling, while a 1080p camera on the back can be detached from a stainless steel frame and used to capture photos and footage. It won’t need to be paired with a phone.
The Verge’s informants are “two people familiar with the project, both of whom requested anonymity to speak without Facebook’s permission”, and explain the ideas is “to encourage owners of the watch to use it in ways that smartphones are used now.”
The watch will also feature a heart rate monitor, and will be available in white, black and gold. It is hoped the watch will be positioned as a competitor to the Apple Watch and the Fitbit.
