Dropbox Snag HP’s Meg Whitman Ahead Of IPO

Dropbox has snagged Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Chief Executive, Meg Whitman, to its Board of Directors ahead of its plan for expansion and a possible IPO.

Chief Executive Officer of Dropbox, Drew Houston, states of the decision:

“Meg is a true business titan and has been a trusted friend and advisor to me for years. Her experience and judgment will be invaluable to Dropbox as we continue to grow and scale”

“I’m delighted to welcome Meg Whitman to our Board of Directors”.

Sources state Dropbox has been working towards an IPO for quite some time, as such the acquisition of an industry heavy weight as Whitman will likely aid the company to win over investors.

Mr Houston states he first met Ms Whitman about six years ago, where she made an impression on him instantly:

“I knew right away she was someone I wanted to learn from. Last year, we had the chance to work together when Dropbox partnered with HPE to build our own cloud infrastructure”.

“And since HPE is a Dropbox customer, Meg knows our products well. We started discussing Meg taking on a more official role with Dropbox earlier this year, and I’m thrilled she’ll be joining the team”

“I have no doubt that Meg will help Dropbox reach new heights”.

Ms Whitman was rumoured to be in line to head up Uber, however, nearly two months ago she took to LinkedIn to quash suspicion:

“Normally I do not comment on rumors, but the speculation about my future and Uber has become a distraction. I am fully committed to HPE and plan to remain the company’s CEO. We have a lot of work still to do at HPE and I am not going anywhere. Uber’s CEO will not be Meg Whitman”
