DJI is reportedly planning to unveil the Osmo Action 6 on November 19, featuring a larger sensor and variable aperture system that could represent the company’s most significant action camera upgrade since the Osmo Action 4.

According to The New Camera, the global launch date comes from an email allegedly sent by a DJI “brand insider” to YouTuber PhotoRabz, indicating a November timeline after an earlier October target.

No screenshots or documents have been published, making the claim unverifiable, though it aligns with DJI’s recent global rollout pattern and comes days after the China launch of the DJI Neo 2 drone.

If leaks prove accurate, the Osmo Action 6 will feature a 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensor, larger than both the Action 4 (A$469) and Action 5 Pro (A$599).

The standout feature is a rumoured variable aperture system (f/2.0 to f/4.0), rare in the action camera space, potentially offering finer exposure control in bright outdoor scenes and low-light environments.

Video capabilities may include 8K recording at 30fps, while reportedly maintaining a competitive starting price of USD $329 (approximately A$495).

DJI’s product calendar has been unusually busy this quarter.

The company recently launched its first Romo-series robot vacuum internationally, with the Osmo Mobile 8 expected to move beyond China soon.

The late-November slot for the Osmo Action 6 fits DJI’s multi-product rollout strategy.

The larger sensor and variable aperture would differentiate the Osmo Action 6 from competitors like GoPro’s Hero13 Black and Insta360’s action cameras, which typically use fixed apertures.

Variable aperture systems provide greater creative control but add mechanical complexity to ruggedised action cameras.
