Dell has retired its XPS branding, unveiling its new high-end “Premium” line of laptops, starting with the 14 Premium and 16 Premium models which are aimed at creators, professionals and power users.

Despite the name change, the new Premium laptops retain the minimalist wedge-shaped design of the outgoing XPS range, complete with edge-to-edge displays, a capacitive touch function row, and Dell’s signature zero-lattice keyboard.

Available in Platinum and Graphite finishes, the laptops run Windows 11 and feature Intel’s latest 16-core Core Ultra 200H series processors.

The 16 Premium (above) tops the range, offering configurations with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor, NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics, and a 16.3-inch 4K OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate..

Meanwhile, the 14 Premium (below) offers up to an RTX 4050 GPU and a 14.5-inch 3.2K OLED. Both models come with Wi-Fi 7, Dolby Atmos audio, up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 4TB of SSD storage.

Battery life gets a major boost this year, with Dell claiming up to 27 hours of video playback on the 16 Premium with an LCD screen, and 20 hours on the 14 Premium. OLED variants sacrifice some endurance but deliver punchier colours and HDR performance.

While some critics note that the refresh brings only modest design and hardware tweaks over the previous XPS 14 and 16, the performance gains are notable with up to 33% faster speeds than last year’s models and more than double the AI capabilities.

The Dell 14 Premium starts at A$2,499, while the 16 Premium begins at A$4,100, depending on configuration.
