Australian retail buying group Narta International has appointed David Jones executive Chris Wilson to its Board of Directors.

Wilson, who has over 22 years of retail exec experience, currently serves as Executive General Manager at David Jones. In his role, he leads the department store’s buying strategy and operations across menswear, childrenswear, home and food.

The appointment brings additional experience in merchandise planning, category management, and retail operations to the Narta board. Wilson previously spent 18 years at Myer in senior roles across menswear, entertainment, operations, planning and hard goods, where he was involved in efforts to improve category performance and team management.

Beyond his corporate roles, Wilson also contributes to the development of future retail talent through his involvement with RMIT University’s Fashion and Merchandising Program advisory board.

Wilson’s appointment comes as Narta continues to navigate a rapidly evolving retail environment, supporting major Australian retailers with centralised buying, technology platforms, and commercial support.

“Chris’s deep commercial acumen, strategic leadership, and customer-centric mindset make him a significant addition to the Narta board,” a company spokesperson said. “His insights into large-scale retail operations and merchandise strategy will be invaluable as we continue to support our retail members in a highly competitive landscape.”
