Australian consumers have been warned not to deal with an online home robotics retailer accused of delayed deliveries, faulty products and refund failures.

NSW Fair Trading has issued a public warning against Robot My Life IP Holdings and its director Glenn Yee, after receiving more than 100 complaints from customers.

Robot My Life, which also traded as MoeBot and PoolBot, sold robot vacuums, mops, pool cleaners and lawn mowers.

The company entered voluntary administration in May and its websites are no longer active.

Since last November, NSW Fair Trading said it has received 102 consumer complaints about Robot My Life, relating to $90,145 worth of goods.

The complaints include allegations of significant delays in supply, goods not being delivered within a reasonable time, faulty products, failure to honour advertised warranties, and failures to provide refunds or replacements.

Some consumers also complained about extensive delays in responses to customer enquiries and warranty claims, with some matters reportedly dragging on for several months.

NSW Fair Trading said complaints also included reports that phone calls were directed to an automated system without follow-up.

The regulator said the issues may have partly stemmed from the sale of goods that were not in stock at the time orders were placed.

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Natasha Mann said: “Consumers were left out of pocket and waiting months for products, refunds or even basic responses, this conduct falls well short of Australian Consumer Law requirements.”

In 2021, Yee told Appliance Retailer that Robot My Life planned to “shake-up” the home robotics market by offering premium products at affordable prices, claiming sales were “off the charts” and outlining plans to expand through major retailers and open experience stores around the country.

NSW Fair Trading said dissatisfied customers should lodge a complaint through its website, at a Service NSW centre, or by calling 13 32 20.
