Consumer Confidence In Eight-Week Slump
Consumer confidence has sat below the 80 level for eight weeks straight, a longer streak than seen during the depths of COVID, or the GFC.
Consumer confidence increased by 0.8 percentage points to reach 78 per cent, according to ANZ and Roy Morgan’s weekly survey.
This marks the eighth straight week of being below 80, a longer streak than over the whole of 2020-2022.
Weekly inflation expectations fell 0.3ppt to 5.3 per cent, while confidence around housing also sits below 80 for the first time since mid-March.
This comes as consumer confidence in the US hits a nine-month low.
