Chrome Expands Autofill to Include Passport, Driver’s License and Vehicle Registration Data
Google has expanded Chrome’s autofill capabilities to include passport numbers, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration details, and other identification information, building on existing functionality for addresses, passwords, and payment data.
Desktop users with enhanced autofill enabled will see passport and driver’s license numbers, vehicle information including license plates and VINs, and additional identification details automatically populated on web pages when prompted.
Google states Chrome now better understands complex forms and varied formatting requirements, improving accuracy across the web.
Chrome saves autofill data only with user permission and protects information through encryption.
Before filling in saved information, the browser requests user confirmation.
The updates are available globally in all languages starting Monday, October 27, 2025.

Chrome plans to add support for additional data types in coming months.
The announcement comes as Google adds functionality to Chrome amid competition from new AI browsers.
Recent additions include Gemini integration rolled out to all Mac and Windows desktop users in the US after previously limiting the capability to Google AI Pro (A$19.99 monthly) and Google AI Ultra (A$249.99 annually) subscribers.
Google has announced plans to bring agentic capabilities to Chrome, add AI Mode search to the address bar, launch new Gemini features, use AI to combat AI-generated scams, and enable automatic password resets.
Other recent launches include a tool that automatically disables browser notifications for websites users haven’t interacted with recently, and improved switching between work and personal Google accounts.
The expanded autofill capabilities position Chrome against emerging AI-powered browsers while maintaining Google’s focus on productivity features that reduce friction in common web tasks.
The identification document support targets users frequently required to enter government-issued identification details for travel bookings, rental services, and verification processes.
