Cameron Trainor Returns As JB Hi-Fi Managing Director

JB Hi-Fi has reappointed Cameron Trainor as its Managing Director, who returns after spending a year as the consumer electronics retailer’s Merchandise Managing Director.

Trainor was originally appointed to the MD role in October 2016 which commentators suspected would put pressure on suppliers.

The appointment followed Richard Murray’s ascension to the Group’s CEO responsible for both JB Hi-Fi and retailer The Good Guys which it required in 2016.

Trainor took on the newly created role of Merchandise Managing Director in August 2018 as Murray stepped back into the MD position.

JB Hi-Fi’s Technology Director Simon Page and The Good Guy’s HR Director Lynda Blakely have also assumed responsibility for the entire group.

The new appointments reveal the growing assimilation of the entire group as JB Hi-Fi merges its internal managing staff with The Good Guys’.

In May 2019, JB Hi-Fi consolidated its support office teams with The Good Guys’ into a new location in Melbourne’s South Bank.

“These appointments are a testament to the talent in both business,” Murray said.

“Following the move to our new shared support office, we remain committed to two separate and strong brands supported by integrated group functions.”
