Bose has launched two new Bluetooth speakers targeting the summer market, the SoundLink Plus and SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen), both featuring enhanced audio technology and modern connectivity options for portable listening.

SoundLink Plus Targets Mid-Range Market

The SoundLink Plus positions itself between the existing Flex (Gen 2) and larger Max models, measuring 9.1″ x 3.9″ x 3.4″ and weighing four pounds.

Despite its compact size, the speaker incorporates a dedicated tweeter, subwoofer, and four passive radiators to deliver stereo separation and enhanced bass response.

Key features include IP67 water resistance with floating capability, 20-hour battery life, and USB-C device charging functionality.

The speaker’s construction features a powder-coated steel grille and silicone-wrapped frame with shock and rust resistance, plus an attached utility rope for portability and hanging options.

Priced at US$269, the SoundLink Plus launches in Black, Blue Dusk, and Citrus Yellow colour-ways.

U.S. pre-orders begin June 12, 2025 (June 18 for Citrus Yellow), with general availability starting June 26 through Bose.com.

Micro (2nd Gen) Brings Modern Updates

The SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen) refreshes Bose’s ultra-portable speaker, originally launched in 2017, with contemporary features and improved performance.

The compact 4.06″ x 4.06″ x 1.54″ speaker weighs under one pound while delivering enhanced audio through a single driver and dual passive radiators.

Updates include USB-C charging replacing the previous micro-USB port, extended 12-hour battery life doubling the original six-hour capacity, and a removable fabric nylon strap for versatile mounting options.

The speaker maintains an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Micro (2nd Gen) is priced at US$129 in Black and Blue Dusk colors, with global availability scheduled for later this summer through Bose.com.

Advanced Connectivity and App Integration

Both speakers feature Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint pairing for two devices and a 30-foot range.

Integration with the Bose app enables firmware updates, EQ adjustments, and shortcut button customisation, including Spotify Tap functionality.

Audio codec support includes SBC and AAC for broad compatibility, plus aptX Adaptive for compatible Android devices offering low-latency, high-resolution audio with dynamic adjustment capabilities.

The new speakers integrate with Bose’s existing SoundLink family through Stereo Mode for left-right channel separation using identical models, or Party Mode for synchronised audio across different speaker types.

Users can pair any two speakers from the current lineup, including Micro (2nd Gen), Flex (2nd Gen), Plus, and Max models.

SimpleSync functionality enables pairing with compatible Bose soundbars and smart speakers, extending the ecosystem beyond portable speakers.

The comprehensive connectivity options position the refreshed SoundLink line for various listening scenarios from personal use to larger gatherings.
