Australians went wild for craft supplies and home appliances in July 2025, with DIY perfume-making materials skyrocketing by over 1,000% as people turned their homes into creative workshops, according to new Shopify sales data.

The craft craze was the big story of the month, with olfactory arts materials, basically everything you need to make your own perfumes, candles, and fancy diffuser blends, leading the charge with a mind-blowing 1,031.2% jump from June.

It seems like everyone decided winter was the perfect time to get their hands dirty with some serious DIY projects.

Jewellery-making kits also had a moment, surging 105.4% as Aussies embraced the handmade life.

But it wasn’t just about traditional crafts, action cameras shot up 87.4% (probably for documenting all those creative projects), paintings climbed 70.8%, and even music composition software increased 58.9%.

The kids got in on the action too, with toy craft kits jumping 21.9% as little ones ditched screens for good old-fashioned glue and glitter.

The sports gear shopping spree was pretty impressive too.

Cycling shoes absolutely exploded with a 689.5% increase; guess everyone’s finally committing to that bike-to-work resolution.

Basketball shoes weren’t far behind at 617.2%, soccer shoes kicked up 254.4%, and dancing shoes stepped up 145.8%.

E-scooters also had a major moment, surging 378.8% as people looked for smarter ways to get around.

Even niche stuff like windsurfing board parts went up 137.6%, proving Aussies are always ready to try something new.

Despite it being the middle of winter, Australians were already thinking about their gardens, with flower bulbs shooting up 658.2%.

But the real shopping madness was happening in the appliance department.

Dishwashers led the charge at 409.7%, followed by dryers at 369%.

The kitchen got some love too, with microwaves jumping 353.6% and frozen drink makers climbing 340.8%.

Even outdoor gear like hose reels went up 415.7%, showing that Aussies are serious about keeping their yards sorted.

The wellness trend was strong this July, with makeup finishing sprays rising 99.1% and massage tools climbing 80.1% as people invested in some serious self-care.

Sleep became a priority, external nasal strips were up 86.9% and snoring aids grew 59.2%, because good sleep is worth investing in.

Weight loss supplements also saw a 57.1% bump, suggesting winter might have been the motivation some people needed to get their health goals back on track.

July’s shopping patterns show Aussies are clearly making the most of winter downtime, whether that’s getting crafty, upgrading their homes, or just treating themselves a little better.
