Apple’s Own Silicon Chips Key To Higher Sales

Apple’s own silicon chips saw an increase of 54 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2021, according to figures obtained by Strategy Analytics.

Sales were bolstered by the introduction of its M series of chips last year, and the continued success of its a series.

M1 processors — which power the 2021 editions of Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, iMac, iPad Pros and Mac Mini — made up 13 per cent of its chip sales, with A series accounting for 64 per cent.

The A series is expected to be phased out, as Apple has announced the M processors will power its newer devices and computers.
