Apple Tests New Features For iOS 17.1 Beta 2

The second beta for the upcoming iOS 17.1 is currently being tested, and there are some new features that come along with it.

StandBy display options have been added, enabling users to choose if the device shuts off automatically, after 20 seconds, or never.

The current Night Mode option that adds a red tint and dims the screen, was relocated to the Display section, as well as the Motion to Wake toggle.

Also replaced was the Always On toggle that limited the display to turning off intelligently.

Beta 1 removed over 20 ringtones and text tones that were added in the launch of iOS 17, and Beta 2 reintroduces them. Reflection remains the default ringtone option

The new ringtones include Arpeggio, Breaking, Canopy, Chalet, Chirp, Daybreak, Departure, Dollop, Journey, Kettle, Mercury, Milky Way, Quad, Radial, Scavenger, Seedling, Shelter, Sprinkles, Steps, Storytime, Tease, Tilt, Unfold, and Valley.

A lot of the new ringtones are longer in length compared to the originals, and sound more modern. All the prior ringtones were moved to the ‘Classic’ section and are still accessible.

There are over 10 new text tones, all of which can be used for incoming text messages, voicemails, incoming mail alerts, reminder alerts, and more.

The iPhone 15 models added a toggle preventing the devices charging past 80% to keep the battery healthy for longer. The previous beta ignored this and continued charging, but this second beta fixes that.

Lastly, Double Tap has been enabled for the second watchOS 10.1 beta, and was provided to developers today. Settings can be managed using the Apple Watch app.
