My previous article discussed how to survive the recession. This time I wanted to applaud some of the companies doing smart stuff.

News limited is offering free access to their mast head newspapers for 28 days.

Foxtel is allowing existing subscribers to see extra content above their subscription level.

Telcos are offering extra data.

Many retailers are offering free delivery, e.g. Jaycar or Kathmandu.

Boutique breweries are offering discounted beer and free delivery.

Woolworths is offering an $80 grocery box to elderly.

So, on initial thought these guys are just trying to help stay in business but when this is over how many more customers will they have that they did not have before or that are using more services? Smart isn’t it!

So what is the opportunity for Retailers? Any product that enhances living and working from home is hot right now, from TVs to monitors, coffee machines to desks. Retailers that pick the trends and make smart offers will benefit!
