One of the sadder casualties of Amazon’s recent cost slashing is its 25-year-old camera review site DPReview, which will be closed within weeks.

Scott Everett, General Manager of the site said “this difficult decision is part of the annual operating plan review that our parent company shared earlier this year,” in a note to readers.

The site will remain active until April 10, according to Everett, with the editorial team “still working on reviews and looking forward to delivering some of our best-ever content” – although it’s hard to imagine the enthusiasm will be there for the recently-fired staffers.

DPReview started in 1998, and is considered the online review bible for camera nerds. As Everett notes, “everyone on our staff was a reader and fan of DPReview before working here.”
