Amazon Move On Senior CE Execs As TCL Cuts TV Deal

Recruiters, acting for Amazon, have started approaching senior executives at consumer electronics Companies and buyers at mass CE retailers, one senior executive was asked to head up their house brand category, he was told that Amazon is set to go after the TV and small appliance markets.

The move to recruit Australian executives could push up salaries with some senior executives being offered US style salary packages to join the online retailer. Several have been approached via their LinkedIn accounts.

According to reliable sources, Amazon has also cut a deal with TV maker TCL to sell their TV’s online in Australia, when they do their soft launch later this year. In the USA, TCL is the #1 TV brand sold by Amazon, several TV’s sold in Australia are made at TCL’s TV production facility in Shenzhen China.

In other moves Amazon has also called pitches for what is tipped to be a major marketing campaign in Australia.

The Company is currently meeting with both advertising and PR Companies with a view to making an imminent appointment. The pitches are taking place in Sydney, where the company’s local Amazon Web Services operations are currently based.

In Seattle, China, India, Japan and the UK, Amazon uses an in-house creative agency which creates and produces content, design, video, photography and UX to service its needs for its global and subsidiary websites according to local marketing site mUmBRELLA.

It is unclear which agencies are currently pitching and Amazon declined to comment, currently the service is being slated to start later this year with the company’s first distribution centre to be located in South Dandenong as exclusively tipped by ChannelNews.
