Acer Cranks Up PC Gaming After Doubling Sales

Acer is moving to crank up sales of their gaming PC range after doubling sales in the first half of 2017.

Locally Acer Australia who is set to move into a new head office this week with the Taiwanese Company taking over the former Toshiba offices and warehouse in Homebush West is set to invest in online marketing to grow their gaming business locally.

The move to new offices is set to save the local subsidiary hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, after local management managed to extradite themselves out of a lease formally negotiated by former CEO Charles Chung.

Globally Acer saw shipments of its gaming notebooks more than double in the first half of 2017 compared to a year earlier, and the company expects sales to be even better in the second half buoyed by the launch of new models.

To strengthen its Predator gaming brand’s market recognition, Acer recently announced sponsorship of e-sport events in several Countries with Acer Australia also looking to expand on their involvement e Sports.

Last month Acer showed revealed for the first time in Australia their $15,000 Predator 21 X gaming notebooks.

Acer is only making 300 of the new devices with 15 set to be sold in Australia.

The enormous, curved-screen notebook has got two GTX 1080 graphics cards, a 21-inch, 21:9 curved screen, a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, eye-tracking tech, nine heat pipes, five fans, and buckets of RGB lighting options. It even comes with it’s own wheelie carry case because it is so heavy.

In Australia Acer who has grown their share of the B2B and consumer notebook markets is looking to strip share away from the Dell owned Alienware who has been losing share. In the mass retailer market Acer is competing with the Lenovo and the HP, Omen, while in the specialist PC reseller market where the bulk of high end specked PC gaming machines are sold Acer is also competing with ASUS and MSI.
