Toys ‘R’ Us Gearing For Aussie Comeback

Toys ‘R’ Us is reportedly preparing for an Aussie comeback, with new owner Tru Kids Brands said to be amidst discussions with potential local partners.

Speaking to Inside RetailTru Kids Brands Chief Executive and President, Richard Barry, claims the company is “actively” looking for local partners, having recently visited the country to discuss potential opportunities.

Management formerly involved with Toys ‘R’ Us Australia is said to have no association going forward.

Tru Kids Brands – a new company reportedly comprised of returning Toys ‘R’ Us executives – own the intellectual property to several brands sold through the liquidated business including; Toys ‘R’ Us, Babies ‘R’ Us and Geoffrey the Giraffe.

Mr Barry claims going forward Toys ‘R’ Us will focus on a tech-centric omnichannel approach, with a smaller physical presence.

Toys ‘R’ Us was known for also selling a vast range of kid-friendly consumer electronics toys, including interactive speakers and portable entertainment devices.
