Lenovo Unveils Pocket-Sized Compute Stick
Measuring 3.94″ x 1.5″ x 0.59″, the Stick 300 offers pocket-sized portability while functioning as a Windows 8.1 PC, with Lenovo stating the compute stick, which carries a US$129 price tag, is “affordable enough for existing PC owners to justify owning a second or third mobile PC option”.
Under the hood, the Stick 300 packs an Intel Atom Z3735F processor, 2 GB of memory and 32 GB of storage, with Lenovo noting that, while it will initially ship with Windows 8.1, it will be available for a free upgrade to Windows 10 starting on July 29. Decked out with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, the Stick 300 can be paired with a wireless keyboard and mouse, providing the functions of a traditional PC. “We’ve looked at the computing needs of travellers, business people and families, and realised that a truly portable and affordable solution would be a significant benefit to users of all kinds,” Jun Ouyang, vice president and general manager, Worldwide Desktop and Visuals, Lenovo, commented. “Our goal with the ideacentre Stick 300 is to give those users a sense of freedom and enhanced mobility, while packing a serious punch in a small device.” Lenovo states the Stick 300 will be available online and will hit retail shelves starting in July. |
