Sony is also offering increased customisation, and will let users switch themes and backgrounds on new titles such as Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Players will also be able to use the console to play music files via a USB stick.
Masamune, or PS4 system software v2.00, is based on user feedback and is topping off a good year in sales, according to the company.
“This has been an amazing first year for PS4 so far, with more than 10 million units sold and a robust set of new features already added,” said Scott McCarthy, director for product planning and software innovation at Sony Europe.
Playstation has been one of the few good areas for Sony this year.
