Samsung Partners Gear VR With Galaxy S6
Samsung had previously produced the Gear VR for its Galaxy Note 4 phablet, having recently brought the Note 4 Innovator Edition to the Australian market.
The product of Samsung’s partnership with Oculus VR, the latest Gear VR has been optimised for the S6 and S6 edge, drawing on the 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display for a “fully immersive and cinematic virtual reality experience”.
Samsung states reduced pixilation and a wide field-of-view provides a better virtual reality experience with longer lasting usage time, while a 15 per cent reduction in size makes the Gear VR more comfortable to wear.
The Gear VR can now also be powered with its USB port for extended usage time.
Samsung has advised the Gear VR will launch in Australia in the coming months.
“The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition will deliver a rich and refined virtual reality experience for customers,” Prasad Gokhale, Samsung Electronics Australia vice president – IT & Mobile, commented.
“Those who have experienced Samsung Gear VR with the Galaxy Note 4 will understand the potential this technology can bring in terms of creating an immersive experience that can completely change the way we interact with digital content.”
