Oz 4G Speeds Fail To Climb

Data from wireless coverage mapping company OpenSignal during November 2014 and January 2015 showed Spain taking the mantle of fastest data speeds with an average 18 megabits per second (Mbps).

While Australia was the fastest country on average in OpenSignal’s survey last year, speeds locally have remained at 12-15Mbps, and now position the country in 14th place.

Optus was pegged at the fastest LTE provider in Australia with 15Mbps downloads on average, followed by Vodafone at 14Mbps and Telstra at 13Mbps.

Telstra had the best 4G coverage, with users spending 77pc of time on LTE. Optus users in comparison spent 73pc of time on LTE, and Vodafone customers 65pc.
