Vodafone Progresses With Network Upgrade: VoLTE In The Works
Vodafone last year announced it would modernise and consolidate its core network with Ericsson, with Vodafone chief technology officer Benoit Hanssen stating that all customers using 4G to download, upload and stream content are now connected to the new core network.
Hanssen said the new network “offers greater agility and flexibility”, meaning “a better 4G experience”. “Through our investment, we’ve created a strong, stable and reliable network, and we’re now building on that with the expansion of our new world-class core network,” he commented. One of the next network developments is set to be the introduction of VoLTE. “VoLTE will allow customers to stay on the 4G network when taking or receiving voice calls, instead of switching to 3G,” Hanssen commented. “VoLTE will deliver a superior call experience with reduced connection times, while customers continue to enjoy Vodafone’s high-definition audio quality. “One of the exciting benefits of VoLTE is that customers will be able to multi-task on 4G on their smartphone. For example, if a customer wants to browse the net while having a conversation on the same device, they’ll still have access to fast 4G data speeds.” |
