John Winning Wins Retail Exec Of The Year 2nd Year Running
The award was presented by Eddie McGuire in a Gala Dinner at the Hilton Sydney last night. John Winning said the award is a great tribute to the hard work and dedication that it takes to succeed in business, both by senior executives and the teams they lead.
Winning advised other Australians to think big and have a “can do” attitude. “Know that you can do anything you want to. If you think you can’t do something, remind yourself that it’s not that you can’t do it, it’s that you have chosen not to dedicate the time it would take to do it,” he said.
“This is something I always keep in mind and it helps me think big and continue working towards my goals. The people I respect most, whether it’s in business or in life, carry a strong ‘can do’ attitude.”
“Younger executives in particular often have a very different way of thinking, something that is invaluable in today’s business world – especially in retail. Australian retailers need to think outside the square to deliver Australian consumers with something unique, personalised and innovative,” he added.
CEO Magazine Executive of the Year awards recognise the achievements of individual executives over the last year and the contributions they have made to their companies. John Winning took the reins of Winning Group, a multi-million dollar retail entity that successfully spans both online and traditional retail channels, while still in his twenties.
