$249 Hip-flask-DAC From iFi Audio Coming To Oz
The UK-based company iFi Audio is releasing a brand new portable headphone digital-to-analog converter (DAC)/headphone amp to boost the sound coming from your smartphone, tablet or your PC.
Set to arrive on the 15 February through BusiSoft AV audio distributors, the Hip-DAC from iFi Audio will sell for $249.
Featuring a Burr-Brown DAC chip, which iFi selects based on its ‘highly musical sound’ and True Native architecture.
The Hip-DAC supports PCM and DSD files up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256 respectively.
On the front of the unit are two buttons (gain and bass boost), a volume rocker, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Pentaconn 4.4mm, allowing for both normal and balanced headphones.
The rear sports a USB-C for charging and USB-A input for audio transmission, capable of outputting up to 700mW.
Offering a 2200mAh battery with 8 to 12 hours of playback depending on the operation.
One thing to note is iPhone users will need to purchase the lightning Camera Adapter in order to connect the Hip-DAC (as pictured above).
