iMessage Flops

But the reality is turning out to be very different (and hazy) for iOS 7 users.

Apple confirmed “a fraction of a percent ” of users are suffering issues with iMessages, which are being sent as texts or not sent at all.

One iOS 7 user told Smarthouse she is receiving ‘ghost’ messages, where the iPhone alerts a message has been received but there’s diddly squat in the inbox. There has also been an army of complaints about iMessage on iOS 7, on the Twittersphere.

“We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update,” Apple confirmed to WSJ.

“In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users.”

Smarthouse has heard complaints from several Apple users who upgraded to iOS7 encountering issues with accessing iTunes, battery life and Siri.

There have also been reports of users feeling sick or dizzy while using new iOS 7.

The following steps also work, according to Apple forums.

Disable iMessage in Settings -> Messages, . Reset the iPhone’s Network Settings under Settings -> General -> Reset . Reenable iMessage.

Apple analyst Gene Munster says the iMessage glitch is comparable to the Apple Maps debacle, when sent users off the road.
