Now You Can Play Games In Facebook

As the battle between Google and Facebook intensifies, Facebook has moved to add the ability to play games with friends through its Messenger service.

Instant Games, including Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Words With Friends: Frenzy, will initially roll out to 30 countries, including Australia.

The social network has previously experimented with games in Messenger, including a basketball game that has so far been played 1.2 billion times.

To begin a game, all users need to do is open a conversation with a friend – or friends – tap on the new game controller icon below the message box, and choose a game to play.

Facebook says that the games will be available for ‘newer iOS and Android operating systems’, suggesting that they might not work for those who still haven’t upgraded to the latest mobile software.

The update will also include score-based league tables, and in-game chat.3ADADE6900000578-3982488-Facebook_is_adding_the_ability_to_play_games_with_friends_throug-m-37_1480438830928

‘As always, you have complete control of how you use Messenger – your scores are only shared with the Messenger Groups you’re playing with, and your top score is visible to just your friends so it’s easy to find new people to challenge,’ said Facebook in a statement.

‘We think this is just the beginning for games on Messenger — look for new titles to be added, and for new ways to play,’ said Facebook.
