Nougat Passes 7% Of Android Installs

Continuing its rapid growth since it launched late last year, Google’s Nougat OS now accounts for 7.1% of all active Android devices.

While not quite the 100% month-on-month growth found in February, April proved to be a significant period of expansion for Nougat with the new OS growing slightly over a whole two percentage points.

According to the latest Android dashboard data, the user-counts for almost every version of Android contracted a few percentage points to fuel this growth for Nougat – with the exception of Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich holdouts, who actually increased their share to 1%.

Lollypop, Kitkat and Jelly-Bean took the biggest hits, with Marshmallow’s share of the market remaining static at 31.2%.

Expect this trend to continue as we move further into 2017. If it continues at the same rate, Nougat will likely surpass Jelly Bean by the second half of the year.
